Zac Posen's forties-style dresses have been all the rage for a while now, but lately the focus has been on the designer's personal flair. His outfits range from the unconventional (a Russian army jacket or nineteenth-century pearls) to fashion standards like Yves Saint Laurent and Gucci. "I love the way men dressed in the 1880s", says the 22-year-old wunderkind. "I like to think of my style as Victorian punk." For his well-received fall 2003 show at the Four Seasons, Posen filled the venerable uptown establishment with downtown glamour, thanks to friends like Stella Schnabel and Mirabelle Marden, who danced the night away in celebration of his designs.
